Google backtrack after favicon disaster

After much criticism of their new favicon Google are now backtracking on their choice of logo and stating that it is not the final one.

The company is stating that it is the first step to a more unified set of icons, that will incorporate user’s feedback and notions, in deciding the final favicon.

This move, as posted on the Google Blog, does seem to be a direct result of the great debate that has been amounting over the simplistic G logo Google had chosen for their favicon. Many people have openly criticised the G logo as being too simple and making the overall impression of the Google site appear weak.
